Individual Play Therapy

In play therapy, children express themselves symbolically by playing, and will communicate their conscious and unconscious feelings and experiences through their play.  Emotional experiences that are important to the child, or have impacted the child in some way, will show up as play behaviors.  In a play therapy session, children are provided with specially chosen toys to enable them to say with toys what they have difficulty saying with words.

The Benefits

  • Allows children the opportunity to gain relief from their problems without having to talk about them directly.

  • Children are taught new skills to help manage their feelings, thoughts, and experiences which leads to mastery of the issues resulting in the problem behaviors decreasing or being eliminated altogether.

  • Effective for children experiencing a wide variety of social, emotional, and behavioral problems.

  • Helps children recover and heal from experiences of loss and stressful or traumatic experiences.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a gentle, evidence-based approach that helps young minds process and resolve emotional distress quickly and effectively. Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, trauma, PTSD, grief, or behavioral challenges, ART provides a safe and supportive space to heal.

ART uses guided eye movements and imagery rescripting to help children replace distressing memories and sensations with more positive, empowering ones. It’s non-invasive, child-friendly, and doesn’t require your child to talk in detail about the trauma, making it ideal for those who may feel overwhelmed or unable to express their feelings verbally.

The Benefits

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help children safely process overwhelming experiences. Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, nightmares, behavioral challenges, or the lasting effects of trauma, EMDR can offer powerful and lasting relief.

The Benefits

EMDR therapy for children is a gentle, evidence-based approach that helps young minds heal by processing distressing memories without needing to talk through every detail. Together, we create a safe, supportive environment where your child can express themselves through play, creativity, and movement—tools that align naturally with how children understand the world.

As a trained EMDR child therapist, I guide your child through each step of the healing process, helping them build resilience, develop emotional regulation skills, and restore their sense of safety and confidence.

Sandtray Therapy

Sandtray Therapy is a gentle, creative, and powerful therapeutic approach that allows children to express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without needing to find the “right” words. Using a tray of sand and a variety of miniature figures, children create scenes that reflect their inner world. These scenes often reveal emotions, memories, and themes that may be difficult to express verbally.

This hands-on, sensory-based method provides a safe space for children to explore their feelings, process trauma, and build emotional resilience. It is especially helpful for children who have experienced anxiety, grief, family transitions, behavioral challenges, or trauma.

The Benefits

  • Encourages emotional expression in a non-verbal, non-threatening way

  • Helps children process difficult life experiences and trauma

  • Builds problem-solving and coping skills

  • Enhances self-awareness and emotional regulation

  • Strengthens the child-therapist relationship through trust and connection

  • Supports healthy brain development and integration of experiences

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a proven, evidence-based approach that helps children understand and manage their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in healthier ways. CBT is especially effective for children facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavior challenges, or big life changes.

CBT teaches children how to recognize unhelpful thought patterns, build emotional awareness, and develop practical coping skills. Through gentle guidance and age-appropriate tools, children learn to feel more in control, confident, and empowered.

The Benefits

  • Helps reduce anxiety, worry, and fears

  • Supports emotional regulation and resilience

  • Builds self-esteem and confidence

  • Encourages positive thinking and problem-solving

  • Improves behavior at home, school, and with peers
